My JD 950 is in pieces and my last attempt to build the engine was an expensive failure. Low range shot. I've been looking at air cooled tractors. Do I buy a new Eicher 364, or the well used Deutz 4006 with home made looking FEL which isn't running (dealer assures me it's just fine tuning to make it run) for $3500? Little success in finding used JD engine......

the Eicher is a good choice it has a nice air cooled engine and is a realible tractor. I would steer away from the uses Deutz that doesn't sound to much like a good deal. Mark has a good point also have you checked the cost of a new JD engine ....
